Pezoula
|
Pezoula is a picturesque lakeside village 42 km southwestwards of Karditsa. The route to Pezoula is magnificent as it passes through the green nature. Chestnuts, firs and oak trees create a unique landscape. The settlement is built on the riverside of Megalos Potamos and has great view to the Nikolaos Plastiras lake. Very close to the river you will see a graphic water mill. The houses are built along the two ghyll sides.
It is believed that the village was founded at the end of the 16th century.
Saint Serafim, an abbot from Korona Monastery, who later became the archbishop of Fanari and Neohori, was from Pezoula. St. Serafim participated in the revolution of 1600, was arrested by Turkish, tortured and later strung up. His head is still kept in the Monastery of Korona.
