Mouzaki
|
Mouzaki is built at the slopes of Itamos mountain, in a 180 m height. It is 28 km from Karditsa.
It is the head office of the homonym settlement with 13 districts.
Mouzaki is known for its natural beauties. The Pamisos stream with the beautiful planes, passes through the village creating a unique landscape.
The settlement is new, as Mouzaki was set to fire in 1943 by Italians. Very few houses are saved, reminiscing of the rich historic past.
Due to its privileged geographical location, Mouzaki is the commercial center of Argithea. It is the crossroad of Karditsa prefecture with the region of Argithea, Epirus and Trikala.
The archaeological findings excavated in the area, tell a lot about the village’s history. 2 km northwestwards of Mouzaki in “Episkopi” was the ancient town of Gomfos. According to historians it was founded during the 4th BC and was the entrance to the ancient town of Amvrakia (Arta) and Athamanes.
