Neraida
|
Neraida is a beautiful lakeside village with traditional houses. It is built in a 1200m height in a verdurous location. The view to the lake and the Thessalic plain is magnificent. When the air is clear you can see up to Olympus mountain. The fir forest is ideal for long romantic walks. One of the best routes is up to Alexandris fountain, as and the routes to the neighboring villages of Pezoula and Neohori.
Neraida has always been a summer resort for the residents of Karditsa. The Germans burnt it in 1943, but it was rebuilt after the war.
During the Second World War it operated as a printery, while the house of Nikolaos Plastiras was the office of the English captain D. Hamson.
Back then, Neraida was the head office of the National Independence Army (ELAS).
In Neraida you will find many guesthouses and rooms to let providing a comfortable stay.
