Karpenisi (or Karpenissi), the capital of Evritania, is one of the most beautiful and clean regions in Greece.
According to the international research of UNESCO, Evritania is one of the five cleanest regions in the world, with almost null pollution. Karpenissi is built on the southwest slopes of Velouhi at an altitude of 960m. It is the only urban area of the prefecture. It is 295 km away from Athens.

In Kefalovrisso you will have the chance to see the statue erected for Markos Botsaris, the hero of the Greek Revolution of 1821.
