 Megalo chorio

Megalo Chorio is the capital of Potamia prefecture. Along with Mikro Chorio, they are the most famous and best organized tourist resorts in Evritania. The whole area is characterized as the “Tembi Mountains of Evritania”. The villages of Potamia prefecture have all the tourist infrastructures and offer visitors many options in accommodation, food and entertainment.
The village is built in a 720 m altitude, at the foothills of Kaliakouda Mountain. A mountain verdurous of fir trees, 17 km from Karpenissi. The surrounding area has many running waters and trees, which make summers cooler.
Megalo Chorio has many traditional mansions and houses that take you back to past times. The cobblestone pavements are full of tourists all year round.
It is worth visiting the Folklore Museum with important exhibits and artistic creations.
The church of Saint Athanasios is built in a magnificent landscape, right at the village’s entrance.
It is worth visiting the church of Saint Paraskevi, which was built 150 years ago. Also a newer in honour of “Saint Gerasimos” the Megalohoritis, who martyred there in 1812.
Don’t miss visiting the famous natural monument “Pantavrehi”, a few steps from Megalo Chorio, as and the refuge of Kaliakouda.
