It is located in Xirokampos and it is one of the most beautiful churches in Leros. According to tradition, it was built in the spot where the icon of Panagia was found. It is said that as a fisherman was collecting shells, he was bitten by a monkey wrench. At that moment he saw the icon of Panagia on a rock. He prayed and the wound closed at once. Then he took the icon and transferred it to the village’s church, narrating what had happened. When he went to sleep he saw a woman in black asking him to take her in the place he had found her. Next morning – like a miracle – the icon was found again on the rock. So people decided to build a church dedicated to Panagia in this spot.
