 Xirokambos

In the south part of the island, 8km from Platanos we meet the coastal village of Xirokambos. Its settlement is built in a small valley full of olive trees, cypresses, almond trees and many species of flowers. Right in front of him is the homonym gulf, while in its entrance the small islands Glaronisia. Very close to it is the island of Kalymnos.
Right above the gulf of Xirokambos is Paliokastro or the Castle of Lepides, even oldest from the castle of Panagia in location Agia Marina. It is built on the remains of the ancient acropolis, dated from 2500 BC. In the same location was built the basilica church during the protochristianic period. Today in that place you will see a small church dedicated to Panagia. Around the gulf of Xirokambos you will find small beaches ideal for swimming.
