Livadi

Livadi is located in the south part of the island. It is 4km from Chora. It is a busy traveled region with tourist development. Here you will find many shops and all kind of taverns, luxurious hotels and rooms to let.
The region flourished during the period of the English Rule. The stone Bridge in Katouni was built then, one of the most significant sites in the island. This bridge is the biggest at its kind in Greece with a length of 110m, width 6m and height 15m. It leans upon 13 arches and 12 round transoms. The English commissioner Makvel built it and it is considered one of the most baronial bridges in Greece.
Really impressive is the English school. It is of gothic style and impresses all visitors at once.
In Livadi village you will see remarkable religious monuments. Like the church of Saint Andreas, built during the 9th century and the monasteries of Panagia Myrtidiotissa and Saint Elesa.
