 The World Windsurf Championship in Karpathos

 Karpathos, the beautiful Dodecanese island will hold for the second year in row the World Windsurf Championship. It will be organized by the ISA (International Speedsurfing Association) from the 20th to the 27th of June 2007.
This Aegean island was chosen for the second time to hold the championship due to the strong, etesian winds that are ideal to accelerate.
Those summer winds lead Mr. Markus Schendtner, general secretary of ISA, in wanting to organize the Championship of 2006 in Karpathos.
He contacted the Municipality of Karpathos who accepted the proposal. The fans of Windsurfing had the chance to enjoy a perfectly organized Championship from August 23rd to September 1st 2006, while at the same time they met with Karpathos.
This year, the championship will be carried out in June (June 20 to 27).
This type of Surfing (Speedsurfing) is considered as the Formula 1 of Windsurfing. Important athletes from all over the world participate in this Championship revealing a fascinating sport.
