Isternia
Isternia is a beautiful traditional village located in the west part of Tinos, 20km from Chora (town). The village is built amphitheatrically on the hill bank, in a beautiful site with gorgeous view.
Characteristic of the village is the marblestone pavements. Walking in the graphic paths the visitors is impressed by the architecture of the village. The famous volta of Cyclades islands, the two-storey houses with marble transoms give it unique glory and nobility.
The residents of Isternia work with the sculpture of marbles. It is not accidental that from this village come many great sculptors. That's why the village's houses are unique specimen of the traditional sculptural art.
Isternia flourished in different periods of time. The remains of the water mills in location Mili, are from the time that the village was in a good financial state. These mills are now indicated as conserved.
While touring in the village don't forget to visit the church of Saint Paraskevi and admire its, made of marble, delicate temple.
4,5km from the village you will meet the Cove of Isternia. You can swim in the beautiful sea and enjoy a calming scene. It gives you the opportunity for water sports.
