 Kampos

Kampos village is located almost in the center of the island, 10km from the town. It is a beautiful traditional village, worth to be visited. While touring in it you will have the chance to admire the architecture of Cyclades islands and see the 200 cotes in the region of Kampos.
Among its churches distinguish for their architecture and history Trinity and Saint Ekaterini. The church of Trinity has a cobblestone yard and it's a unique specimen of the folklore art of Tinos. The church of Saint Ekaterini was built during the period of the Russian domination (1771-74), with financial support from the Russian admiral Orlof, in honor of the empress Ekaterini the 1st of Russia.
The plain has a view to the hill of Xombourgos. It is the famous rock where the ancient town of Tinos is built, that flourished during the 8th century BC. In the same location the Enetics built their castle. This strong fort was the cause for the delay of Turkish. Today the remains of this castle and parts of the walls die hard, but don't remind at all the once inexpugnable fortress.
The archaeological excavations brought into light important findings from the sacred of Dimitry and Persefon.
