Iraklia is a small beautiful island that belongs to Small East Cyclades Islands.
It is located between Ios and Naxos and it is the western island in the complex. It has an extend of 18sq.km and hilly ground. Despite all these Iraklia has vegetation and many fontal waters.
Iraklia has two settlements. Agio Georgio, the island’s port and Iraklia or Chora, the community of island Iraklia. Characteristic is their plain beauty of Cyclades islands that always enchants visitors.
In Agio Georgio you will see the remains of the Venetian castle. Visit the church of Saint George built in 1834.
While staying in the island, worth visiting is the cave of Saint John, with rich stalactite interior. Tradition says that the cave was discovered by accident by a shepherd, who, in order to protect himself from the storm, took shelter in it. There, under a rope he found the icon of Saint John and in the same spot was built the church dedicated to him. Its interior with the beautiful stalactites in various shapes and sizes will impress you. But, in order to visit it, it is essential to have a local guide with you.
In Iraklia you will swim in clean beaches and enjoy sun, beaches and natural beauties. The blond shores of Agios Georgios, Vorini Spilia, Kolpos Livadiou and the pebble beaches of Tourkopigado, Karvounolakos, and cove Meriha will stay in your mind forever.

Around the port and Chora you will find rooms to let. In the taverns you can eat fresh fish and delicious dainties of the local cuisine.
