Merichas

Merichas is Kithnos’ port. It is in the northwest part of the island, 8km from Chora. It is a natural port with a graphic settlement around it with big tourist development. Here you will find hotels of all categories, coffeehouses, bars and taverns to taste the local cuisine.
Among the sites in the region, distinguish the church of Panagia Flabouriani. According to local tradition, tracks found from the beach to the church belong to Panagia herself. On the way to Chora you will see the remains of ancient Kythnos dated from the 10th century BC.
Swim in the beach of Merichas, one of the most cosmopolitan and crowded in the island. North of Merichas you will meet the beautiful beaches Episkopi and Apokrousa, while in the south the isolated beaches Flabouria and Agios Dimitrios will enchant you with their natural beauties.
The island of Agios Loukas, north f Merichas, is one of the places you have to visit. A zone of sand, Colona, connects the island with the shore. There are beaches Kolona and Fikiada. In this small island you will see the remains of an ancient settlement.
