Loutraki
|
Loutraki is the second port of Skopelos, 28km from Chora. It is the best spot in Glossa and the one with the biggest development in tourist infrastructures.
Right in front the port’s entrance you will see the small islands Stroggilo, Paximadi, Glaronisi and Dassia, protected from the strong winds that make it safe for boats to anchor.
The settlement of Loutraki lies around the port. Close to the beach are the sources from which the village is watered. In this place you will also see the remains of roman baths.
In the west side of the settlement, on a hill are the remains of ancient Selinounda’s acropolis. It is an important archaeological site, which shows the civilization that flourished in the island during the 4th BC. In the same region are the remains of Athena’s temple, dated from the 5th BC.
