GREECE / CYCLADES / SIFNOS / ARTEMONAS
Artemonas
Artemonas is one of the most beautiful villages in Sifnos. It is 2km north of Apollonia.
Distinguishes for its baronial feature, as there are many mansions and neoclassic villas with gardens and yards full of flowers. Touring around the village will impress you. The endless natural beauty of the land and the combination of the architecture of Cyclades islands with neoclassic elements give the region a unique classy feature.
On the top of the hill you will see the old graphic mills. Visit the house of Ioannis Griparis and the churches of Panagia Kohis with unique architecture, of Ammos with a rare icon, and of Bali the protector of Artemonas.
The village’s paths lead to the two settlements of Ano and Kato Petali. Their name in the folk speech means rocky hill. Artemonas along with these two settlements are a peculiar architectonic complex, where the elements of Cyclades islands (pezoules, volta, kalnterimia) with the neoclassic structures create a harmonious unit.
In Artemona you will find rooms to let providing you a pleasant staying. There are pottery workshops in the region where you can buy beautiful ceramics from and patisseries that make the famous sweets of Sifnos.
