MUSEUM TINION ARTIST

The museum of Tinion artists was established in 1930. It is roofed under the first floor of the east pavilion of Evagelistrias' institution. It hosts a remarkable collection of sculptures from the 19th and the 20th century, made by artists from Tinos. Many from these works are donations from the creators to the institute, as acknowledgment for the scholarships given to them.
The pieces exhibited are representative of the trends during the 19th and 20th century. Analytically:
The classicism of the 19th century is shown through the works of brothers' Fitali and George's Vitalis. Also distinguishes the work "Koumoundouros" of the great sculptor Demetrios Filoppotis.
Realism is represented by twelve pieces of Lazaros Sohos. Among these exhibits distinguish the two wax models made of plaster from the base of equitant Kolokotronis that decorates the plateau of the old Parliament in Athens. The works of Ioannis Voulgaris that distinguish for their realism are in a special pavilion of the museum. Thirty sculptures and anaglyphs are shown that are worth seeing.
Other important sculptures from Tinos represented in the museum are: Ioannis Lampaditis, Ioannis Koulouris, Nikolaos Kouvaras, Tilemahos Gizis, Nikolaos Stergiou, Lukas Doukas and Lazaros Lameras.
In the museum are also exhibited pictures of top painters like Nikiforos Litras and Nikolaos Gizis.
