In Ios is located Homer's grave the most famous poet of ancient times and the writer of the epic plays Iliada and Odissia.
According to the tradition Homer's mother was from Ios. That's why the poet died in this island. There is another theory that says that Homer didn't solve the enigma put by the locals so they had to kill him.
It is said that in location Plakoto, in the north part of the island, on the hill, is located Homer's grave.
