 Ano mera

Ano Mera is in the northwestern part of the island, 5km from Chora. Here the visitor sees a different scenery. The green fields and the small underpopulated neighborhoods, surprise him. Entire Ano Mera is a sightseeing. Walk in the fresh painted paths and fill your mind with pictures of yesterday and today. The 350 residents of the village stay true to the island’s traditions.
Visit the Laographic museum of the village. It is a representative country house and one of the first “open museums” of our country. It has no exhibits. It represents the typical cottage house, consisted from the main house, the oven, the cellar, the open winepress and a small vineyard. A picture of an entire rural complex lies before your eyes. In the taverns you can taste the local meal “matsata”. It is handmade pasta with rabbit or cock in red sauce.
Swim in the cove of Agios Georgios in the north part of the island and in beach Livadi with the grey sand and the clear waters.
