Vienna is a beautiful city and the capital of Austria. It lies at the northeastern part of the country. It is the biggest city of Austria and the political, cultural and financial center of it.
The city is built 170 m. above sea level, between Danube river and forests.
Vienna is a geographically primary city, as it is situated in the natural cross-road of central Europe. It is a nodal point between Central and Eastern Europe, and one of the most important harbors of Danube river.
Vienna is a pole of attraction for thousands of tourists as it has many things to offer. The city wealth, the magnificent sights, the museums and the magical atmosphere enchant all visitors.
The city still keeps alive memories of the once Austro-Hungarian Empire. The Baroque architectural style can be seen in the most important historic monuments of the city. Modern architecture buildings can also be found in Vienna. During the last century numerous architecture projects were completed which combine modern architectural elements with old buildings.
Vienna has many historic monuments of great emperors and empresses such as Maria Theresia,
Maria Antoinette, Francis Joseph II and his wife – Sissy.
An acquaintance with this European country will really enchant you. The city adopted its current feature during the 19th century when extensive building projects were implemented. The imposing Ringstraße and the surrounding palaces are quite impressive. Among these buildings distinguish the Staatsoper, the City Hall, the Champer, the Palaces, etc.
Take a walk at the Kärntner Straße, the most commercial road of Vienna, with the famous boutiques.
The most important sights of Vienna are the palaces of Hofburg and Schönbrunn, the twin Kunsthistorisches museums, the Natural History Museum and the Technisches Museum.
There are many popular sites associated with great personalities who lived in Vienna and have now become a land of worship. Some of them are Beethoven’s various residences and the cemetery of Saint Marx where Mozart’s grave is.
It is worth visiting the Michaelerplatz where Looshaus is. It was constructed in 1910 by Adolf Loss. This building is a typical sample of luxurious classical architecture.
Modern architectural elements are seen at the Gasometer, at the Millenium Tower, at Karl-Marx-Hofs’ residence, at the Hundertwasserhaus and the United Nations headquarters.
