Loutra
The coastal settlement Loutra is 5km from Chora. It is the most known and developed summer resort of Kythnos. Despite its important tourist infrastructure, the region keeps its traditional identity.
The graphic settlement is built around the coves of Loutra, of Agia Irini, of Shinari and of Maroulas. Swim in the homonym beaches. The region is famous for its sanative sources, known from archaic times. Sanative sources of Kythnos are the only in Cyclades islands. There are two warm sources. The one of Agii Anargiri is in the balneary, while the other, Caucasus, is 50m away from the first and has a temperature of 52C. It is proved that these waters are ideal for healing arthritics and gynaecological maladies. In the past king Otto and his wife Amalia have visited the balneary. In the place of settlement Loutra used to be the medieval capital of Kythnos. In location Kefalokastro you will see the remains of Orias’ castle. Worth to be visited, are the derelict houses and churches of this period and admire the wonderful nature. The beauty of wild nature will enchant you.
In Loutra you will find hotels and rooms to let of all categories. There are taverns, restaurants and coffeehouses. Bars with greek or foreign music, clubs with live music promise you unforgettable evenings.
