Apart from the green scenes, it also has a small, protected from the winds, port, a pole of attraction for the lovers of swimming. The shallow, clear waters of the cove are safe for small children. You can swim in the beaches Kalo Livadi and Lefkes.
The region was named by the church of Panagia Kanala, the island’s protector. The church is built in a beautiful location and distinguishes for its architecture. According to tradition the icon was found in a canal and it is said to be work of Apostle Lukas. But it is most likely to be made by a painter from Crete Antonio Skordilis.
