The ski center of Vora or Kaimaktsalan, as it is else known, is located at the mountain Voras, the third highest mountain in Greece. Its runs are of 2.050m to 2.524m height. Voras mountain borders with FYROM state and is the natural boundary between the two states.
At the highest crest of the hill (2.524m) is found the small chapel of Prophet Elia, a monument of the 1st World War. It is built according to the catholic type and has a cenotaph in the basement.

The ski center is 39km far from Edessa, 140km form Thessaloniki and 570km form Athens. It is a very cosmopolitan resort with traditional settlements and many people call it the “the north Arahova”. A really picturesque village is that of Agios Athanasios, abandoned for years. But now, with the creation of the ski center, it has become one of the most cosmopolitan villages in Greece. It has traditional guest houses, magnificent renovated mansions, intimate shops, but and night clubs waiting for you.

Kaimaktsalan started operating in 1995. The modern infrastructures and activities soon made it famous all around Greece. Today, it is considered one of the most cosmopolitan ski resorts.

The ski center has 7 lifts (1 two-seated cable railway and 6 trailing lifts), which take skiers to the 14 different-level runs (4 race runs with electronic chronometer, one of which is the only in Greece fulfilling the Olympic specifications for free descents. The length of this run is 3.528m and has 3 difficult runs, 3 easy, 1 middle and 3 baby runs), a Snowmobile run as and a Snowboard Fun Park (a run for somersaults and jumps) for the most demanding and experienced skiers.

As for the beginners, they can turn to experienced trainers, who will show them the secrets of the most famous winter sport.

The center is open from November to May, and it is the only one with so much snow.

As for the infrastructures, the chalet is in 2.050m height. It has a guesthouse with 46 beds, a restaurant and an ouzeri. A snowbar is in a 2.100m height, with a cozy and friendly atmosphere, ideal for nestling. You will also find shops for renting and buying ski equipment.
