Anafi chora

Chora is the only settlement of the island. It is built in amfitheatrical way and impresses with its authentic beauty of Cyclades islands. Touring around the island can be a journey in times of innocence. Narrow, hilly, cobblestone paths lead you to graphic neighborhoods. White houses with colourful windows and long history, stand lofty and untouched of time. In their entrances and in pavements, pots with flowers give their own style in this natural scenery. The old windmills will give you some of the best photos in your album.
Apart from the traditional settlement, you will see the remains of a venetian castle on the top of a hill, over Chora. Inside the castle walls you can see the remains of the ancient town.
One of the most important religious monuments of the island is the monastery of Panagia Kalamiotissa. It is located in the east end of the island and was built during the 16th century. Its history is connected with local legends. It is celebrated on the 8th of September and a big feast is organized.
Close to the monastery are the remains of Apollo’s ancient temple.
In Anafi you will find beautiful beaches. Her shores and clear blue waters will give you moments of relax. The most famous beaches are those of the south part of the island. It doesn’t distinguish for its tourist foundations. There are rooms to let and taverns in the island.
