Paralio Astros is the coastal settlement of Astros, built amphitheatrically on the slope of a lush green hill, and in recent years has developed into a popular seaside resort. It is located 180 km from Athens, 49 km from Tripoli, and 30 km from Argos.
Part of the municipality of North Kynouria, Paralio Astros boasts one of the most beautiful beaches in the region, stretching 8 km with fine sand and crystal-clear blue waters.
Around its small fishing harbor, numerous tavernas serve fresh seafood. During the tourist season, the harbor accommodates numerous yachts. The port also has historical significance, as it was the first Peloponnesian port where, on June 19, 1821, Dimitrios Ypsilantis landed aboard a Russian ship, accompanied by notables from Hydra and Spetses.
Archaeological findings show that the area has been inhabited since ancient times. On the hilltop, visitors can see the remains of a medieval fortress, while near the sea lie sections of walls from the Classical era.
Paralio Astros is fully organized, with hotels and rental rooms that fill up during the summer months. The area also offers shops, restaurants, and bars, making it an ideal destination for a complete seaside experience.
