Venice, a magical city. The most romantic city in Europe stretches across small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic Sea. Venice is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The whole city is a sight. It is a city – museum, which gives the impression that time has stopped somewhere in the middle of Renaissance.
The city with the 118 islands, the 160 canals and the 400 bridges is one of the top travel destinations. Venice is a city of the northern Italy, the capital of region Veneto.

Venice is a city full of unique pictures. Venice has no historical records from ancient times. The consecutive invasions of Goths and Huns at the north part of Italy during the 5th and the 6th century, made natives look for safer places.
Some of them found shelter at various lagoon islands. According to traditions, Venice was typically established on March 24th 421. The lagoon and its shallow waters was a "safety net" for them and attracted many refugees. The Queen of Seas, the Serene Democracy of Venice started to become then, an important naval and commercial force of the Middle Age and Renaissance.
The wealthy Venice influenced Mediterranean’s history during the Middle Age.
Venice reached its utmost time during the 16th century. After that time it started declining, as the commercial transitions were carried out in the Atlantic Ocean.
When the city was annexed to the kingdom of Italy in 1866, it became an important commercial center once again.
