KOUNOPETRA
|
Another strange geological phenomenon in Kefalonia. It is a gigantic rock in the Gulf of Palliki, which stands out of the sea and has a continuing movement. According to locals this rock used to move with a rhythm before the 1953 earthquakes. But the strong concussions made part of the depth of the sea move and stabilize the base of Kounopetra.
According to researchers, this movement is due to the “disordered” location of stones, to the base of the rock and to exterior roles (wind, sea).
