ACHILLION PERISTYLIO
ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
The Archaeological museum of Corfu is roofed under a building of 1962-1965. In its rooms you will see important findings from excavations in Corfu and Thesprotia. Among them distinguish the collection of sculptures from excavations in the temple of Artemide, in the town and the cemetery of Garitsa. Most impressive are the bronze little statues from the sacred of Corfu and the Pediment of Gorgos from the temple of Artemide in 580BC. It is the most ancient stone pediment saved from this temple. Remarkable is the collection of findings from Paleopolis, that-among others-includes medical tools and items made of bones for domestic use.

MUSEUM OF BYZANTINE AND AFTERBYZANTINE ART
The Byzantine museum of Corfu is also known as Antivouniotissas' museum due to the fact that it is roofed under the church of Panagia Antivouniotissa. It is one of the oldest ecclesiastic monuments in the town. The church is dedicated to the Holy saint Mary Lady Antivouniotissa and dates back to the 15th century. It is of big interest for its architecture, as it is characteristic specimen of the churches in Corfu during Byzantine times, and for its interior also because of the collections of christian art it hosts. About 50 icons are exhibited dated from the 15th to the 19th century and are representative of the eptanisian and cretec school.

MUSEUM OF ASIAN ART
The museum of Asian art is roofed under the palace of Saints Michael and George's. It is an imposing building of British rhythm built during the period of 1819 to 1824 and was used as residence for each commissioner, as seat of the saints Michael and George's' knightly tagma and as seat of the Ionian Senate.
In the ground floor you will see historic heirlooms and furniture from the times of the Ionian Senate. In the first floor-among others- you will see the famous collection of asiatic art. It includes more than 10.000 exhibits, donations by Gregory Manos brought from China, Japan, India, Korea, Kamboji, Taiwan and Tibet.

It is the only museum at its kind in Greece and one of the least in the whole world. It is hosted in a special pavilion in the building of Ionic Bank and is in function since 1981. It includes a remarkable collection of rare paper currency, a type matrix, photos and maquettes.
Impressive of this collection is that it shows all stages of production starting from the design and production of paper to the method of destroying them in old ovens.
Among them distinguish the paper currency published by the Ionic bank from1839 to 1920. Also the first bank notes in the free Greek Union in 1831, during the government of Kapodistrias and the first bank notes from the National Bank of Greece in 1840. It is worth seeing the collection of bank notes from the after war period from various countries and the chinese bank note dated from 1300 one of the oldest that is saved in the whole world.
