While being in Kamari you can visit the archaeological site of Ancient Thera. During ancient times Kamari was Thera's port.
The historic town of ancient Thera is located in the east side of Santorini, in Mesa Vouno. It was established in the 9th century BC by Dorian settlers. Their leader Thera gave its name to the island. According to the findings, this town was constantly inhabited until the early Byzantine times.
