Kalivia Filaktis
About Kalivia Filaktis
Leaving the picturesque village of Kryoneri, the road leads us to two settlements sharing the same name: Kalyvia. However, administratively, they belong to two separate communities, Filakti and Pezoula, from which they have "borrowed" the second part of their names.
Before the creation of the lake, the inhabitants of these two settlements worked in the fields of Nevropoli and kept their seasonal huts here, from which the area also took its name. These were single-room temporary structures made of reeds and mud, where farmers stored their agricultural products and tools.
The first settlement, Kalyvia Filaktis, is built on the mountainside. A characteristic feature is the uphill path that connects it with the northern part of Pezoula and the church of Agios Ioannis of Filakti.
