About Aegina
Aegina is one of the closest islands to Athens and a popular destination for short getaways. Located in the Saronic Gulf, it combines history, natural beauty, and easy accessibility, with daily ferry connections from Piraeus.
The island has significant historical importance, as it was one of the first capitals of modern Greece. It is also known for the ancient Temple of Aphaia, one of the best-preserved Doric temples in Greece, forming the so-called "Sacred Triangle" with the Parthenon and Cape Sounion.
Today, Aegina is a popular tourist destination with beaches, traditional settlements, and a strong culinary identity, especially its famous pistachios. It offers an ideal mix of relaxation, culture, and a quick escape from Athens.
