About Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki is the second-largest city in Greece and the capital of Central Macedonia. It is a major economic, commercial, and cultural hub of the country and the wider Southeastern Europe, with a long history dating back to its founding in the 4th century BC by Cassander.

The city is known for its Byzantine monuments, many of which are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, such as the White Tower, the Rotunda, and the churches of Saint Demetrios and Hagia Sophia. It also has a vibrant cultural life, with festivals, exhibitions, and a large student population.

Thessaloniki is an important transportation and tourism hub, with its port and "Makedonia" international airport. It combines history, modern urban life, and gastronomy, making it one of the most dynamic destinations in the Balkans.
