Veria

Veria is a historic city in Macedonia and the capital of the regional unit of Imathia. It is built on the foothills of Mount Vermio, near the Aliakmonas River, in an area rich in history and natural beauty.

Veria is known for its old town (Barbuta and Kyriotissa), featuring traditional architecture, cobbled streets, and strong Byzantine and Ottoman heritage. The city also has important

religious monuments, including numerous Byzantine churches.

Today it is an important administrative and commercial center, and it lies close to major archaeological and natural destinations such as Vergina and Seli.
