Perithia
About Perithia
Old Perithia is a historic village in the northern part of Corfu in the Ionian Islands, located on the slopes of Mount Pantokrator. It is set in a lush mountainous landscape surrounded by olive groves, forests, and natural springs.
Old Perithia is known as one of the oldest settlements on Corfu and is often described as a "ghost village," as many of its stone houses were abandoned over time. The village preserves traditional Venetian-influenced architecture and offers a rare glimpse into the island's rural past.
Today, Old Perithia is a protected heritage site and a popular destination for hiking and day trips. Visitors come to explore its historic ruins, enjoy the natural surroundings, and dine in the few traditional tavernas that still operate within the village.
