Vovousa
About Vovousa
Vovousa is a mountain village in the eastern part of the Pindus range, within the Ioannina regional unit, and part of the Zagori area. It is built next to the Aoos River and is surrounded by dense fir and beech forests, forming one of the most pristine natural landscapes in Greece.
The area is known for its outstanding natural beauty and strong ecological value, as it lies within the Northern Pindus National Park. It offers excellent opportunities for hiking, rafting on the Aoos River, and exploring untouched wilderness, making it a popular eco-tourism destination.
Despite its small size and remote location, Vovousa preserves traditional Epirus architecture and hospitality. Its stone bridges and houses give it an authentic character closely connected to the nature and history of the Pindus mountains.
