Lindos
About Lindos
Lindos is one of the most iconic villages on the island of Rhodes, famous for its whitewashed houses, narrow pedestrian streets, and spectacular views over the Aegean Sea. The village is built amphitheatrically on a hillside, creating a striking landscape where traditional architecture blends with the natural coastal scenery. Its unique appearance makes it one of the most recognizable and photographed locations in Greece.
At the top of the hill stands the ancient Acropolis of Lindos, one of the most important archaeological sites in the Dodecanese. It includes remains from different historical periods, including ancient Greek temples, Hellenistic fortifications, and later Byzantine and medieval additions. The climb to the Acropolis passes through the village's maze-like alleys and offers panoramic views of the bay, making the experience both cultural and scenic.
Today, Lindos is a major tourist destination that still preserves its traditional charm despite its popularity. The village features boutique shops, rooftop restaurants, and cafés overlooking St. Paul's Bay. Its combination of history, architecture, and natural beauty makes Lindos one of the most impressive and unforgettable places on Rhodes.
