Platanos
About Platanos
Platanos is one of the oldest and most characteristic settlements on Leros, built amphitheatrically on the slopes below the Castle of Panagia. It was the island's former capital and retains a strong traditional character.
The village is known for its narrow uphill alleys, whitewashed houses, and its close connection to the historic castle above. From several points in Platanos, there are panoramic views over Lakki harbor and the surrounding bay. The area has a few cafés and small shops, while maintaining a quiet and authentic atmosphere.
Overall, Platanos is one of the most historic and picturesque villages on Leros, ideal for walking and experiencing the island's older character.
