The Patmos Religious Music Festival is one of the most significant and artistically acclaimed cultural institutions in the Aegean. Held every summer (usually in late August or early September), the festival takes place in the sacred open-air space right outside the Holy Cave of the Apocalypse, the exact site where Saint John the Theologian wrote the Book of Revelation. Established in 2001, the event is co-organized by the Municipality of Patmos and the Holy Monastery of Saint John the Theologian.

The festival beautifully bridges high artistic creation with the deep spirituality and sacredness of the island. Its diverse program includes a wide array of musical traditions, ranging from Byzantine hymns and sacred music from around the world to classical masterpieces by great composers, religious oratorios, and contemporary works inspired by faith and tradition.
