Akrotiri lefkata
|
A dirt road after Porto Katsiki beach leads to Lefkata Cave, from which the island took its name. The amazing white rocks make it one of the most beautiful natural sites you must see. The landscape is wild and hilly, waves are hitting the gigantic rocks and the sight gets lost in the deep blue Ionian Sea.
According to mythology, Sapfo poetess jumped from the cave and drowned when her beloved Faonas did not accept her love.
Visiting Akrotiri don’t miss seeing the lighthouse of Lefkata, built on the remains of Apollo’s ancient temple.
