Chalki is inhabited since prehistoric times. Its historic route is coincided with that of Rhodes.
Pelasgi, Kares, Dorians and Phinics were the first settlers.
According to the findings, the island flourished from the 10th to the 5th century BC. In Palio Chorio, on the top of the hill you will see the remains of the ancient acropolis.
During the 13th century Venetians conquered the island. The remains of Knights Castle keep memories from the past alive.
Turkish followed in 1522 until 912, when Italians conquer the island.
It was adjusted to Greece in 1948 as all Dodecanese islands.
