The mansion that forms the nucleus of the Tsitouras Collection was built in 1780. It was renovated in 1985 by the art collector Dimitris Tsitouras, who converted it into five units, each with a separate theme and name, all demonstrating his personal style and respect for the Greek tradition and the needs of modern travellers. These suites have a capacity of between two and five persons each, and are named after the unique collection in each one: The House of the Sea, the House of the Winds, the House of Portraits, the House of Porcelain, and the House of Nureyev.
Features such as the domes, vaults, interior windows and skylights characteristic of Santorinian architecture are combined with tasteful decoration, modern furniture, antiques and some of Tsitouras’s private collections of objets d’art including ancient amphorae, Byzantine icons, old maps, mariner’s chests, paintings, etc.
