The House is positioned at the top of the island's cliff, just twelve steps down from the main path that runs through the village of Oia (Ia). From your window you will have dazzling day and starlit night views to the sea and to the amazing Santorini volcanoes with the surrounding multi-layered caldera cliffs.
Although in the very center of the village, this is a peaceful setting surrounded by church chapels and private homes.
You can easily walk to the famous sunset, the castle ruins, the charming little restaurants and tavernas, the artist workshops and small specialty shops, the village's bakery and sweet shops, even down the 220 steps to the Ammoudi fishing harbor for a swim and fresh fish with Greek ouzo.
Parking is free and a short walk away - either near the Town Hall (Kinotita) and Post office (Taxidromia) or slightly further away near the village's Bus Square.
Taxi service is available from either the Bus Square or the Town Hall.
1864 The Sea Captain's House & Spa, in Greek 'Kapetanospito', was built by the Sigouras Sarris family after the Greek War
of Independence from the Turkish rule. It was completed the same year as the signing
of the new Constitution of Greece. A triangular, marble plaque set in the red stone facade proudly announces the house's commemorative date and the owner's family initials "S.P.A." - Σ. Π. Α.
The Sarris family was a renowned ship-owners family from Oia. The owners two sons and grandson continued the seafaring family tradition until the era of the steam engine which replaced the proud sailing ships.
