 The opening of Patras Carnival was impressive once again

 The opening ceremony for Patras Carnival was on January 19th in Ag. Georgios Square in Patra. Many people attended the impressive celebration. The theme for this year’s carnival is the history of communication, with many computers at the central stage. Big stars in this year’s carnival are “The mouse and the @”.
A carnival group from west Cornwall opened the ceremony with acrobatic tricks and fires. Other carnival groups with flags and messages appeared in the municipal Theatre giving carnival messages in the Morse signal language.
During the opening ceremony the history of communication was also narrated through laser pictures and videos, while King Carnival appeared as “the computer wizard”.
The ceremony ended with thousands of fireworks, while many people stayed at Ag. Georgios Square dancing and singing.
The carnival will last about one month and a half and will end on March 9th with the big parade and the firing of king Carnival.
