 Florina, the best rural travel destination

 According to the European Committee the Prefecture of Florina is one of the ten best destinations for rural travelling in Europe.
During the annual European Tourism Exhibition in Portugal, the prefecture of Florina as and other nine regions in Europe were awarded as the “2007 Magnificent European Destinations” and were honored with the EDEN prize.
The Committee said that in Florina “tourism conciliates with the land and the environment”. The ski center of Vitsi and the Mounts of Varnous, Vernon and Voras lead to the Prespes Lakes.
Many more regions in the world were prized with the EDEN award such as Troodos in Cyprus, Specchia in Italy, the Pielachtal valley in Austria, the small town of Dourbui in Belgium, Sveti Martin Na Mouri in Croatia, Orseg in Hungary, Klonakilti in Ireland, Koldiga in Lithuania and Nadour in Malta.
