Easyjet: The 100 Airbus 319 aircraft is now part of its fleet
|
The famous Airline Company Easyjet has now in its fleet the 100 Airbus 319 type aircraft. It was received in a special ceremony at the Airbus factory.
Eeasyjet received the 100 aircrafts within the last 3,5 years. This means that Easyjet had a brand new A319 aircraft every 12 days, quicker than any other airline company in the history of industry.
The company ordered the 240 aircrafts in October 2002, 120 of which were urgent and the rest 120 optional.
The first aircraft was received a year later, while in November 2006 the order was increased to 315 aircrafts (192 of which were urgent and 123 were optional).
The 192 aircrafts along with the engines cost 6 billion euro! The aircrafts are using French engines CFM56-5B type, while the SR Technics Company in Zurich services the aircraft.
This makes Easyjet one of the most important European aviation company with thousands of people working in it.
After the purchase of the 100 Airbus, Easyjet now owns 130 aircrafts and it is considered the newest fleet in Europe.
The A319 is an environment – friendly aircraft. As it has been proved the traditional airline companies pollute the air 27% more than Easyjet.
More specifically, last year, Easyjet had an average of 95,7g CO2 per km – less than the 104g Toyota Prius and even less than the 130g per kilometer that is allowed by the European Committee for the car industry.
Easyjet suggested the European Governments to withdraw from circulation about 700 old airplanes, which pollute the air.
According to the airline company, all aircrafts manufactured before the January 1st 1990, must be withdrawn by January 1st 2012 (the day when aviation industry enters the European program for the pollution of the Environment).
This has succeeded in the past, during the 70’s and the 80’s, when the aviation industry managed to reduce the aircraft’s sonic pollution.
During the ceremony for the acceptance of the 100 Airbuses in Hamburg, the Managing Director of Easyjet Mr Andy Harrison, said: Today, 50 years after the Convention of Rome, there are very few companies that can dare such an engagement for Europe. The 6 billion Euro investment in it guarantees thousands of new jobs in Europe, while this year Easyjet is planning to transfer about 38 million passengers all around Europe.
Practically, there are only a few companies that have accomplished what Easyjet has, in order to make flights more comfortable. They are not only the 160 million passengers that have flown with us since 1995, but also the thousands of people working with us in airplanes, hotels, restaurants and other sections created by Easyjet.
Our fleet is consisted of 130 very clean and quiet engines, with an average age of 2,2 years. We emit 27% CO2 less than an ordinary airline company. This means that everyone caring about the environment should fly with Easyjet.
It is really easy to understand that different type of cars pollute the environment, while there is no such matter with airplanes. The Airbus 319 is 15% more environment-friendly per seat than the Boeing 737-300. This is why we now ask most European Governments to withdraw the 700 of the oldest aircrafts in Europe.
Our latest co-operation with Airbus has made us stronger in order to take advantage of many important opportunities.
Mr. said: “We are very satisfied that our co-operation with Easyjet is still successful. This proves that the Airbuses can really consolidate to the fleet. The A320 “family” has very low operational needs.
Summing up, we have to say that the 6 billion Euro investment of Easyjet, in combination to other agreements, have created thousands of new jobs all over Europe. Specifically: France, Airbus has 17.600 people working in seven sections. In France is also the headquarters of the company.
There are also manufactured the nose aircraft, the fuselage, the pylons and the nacelles for the A319. The headquarters of CFM in Paris, is the exclusive supplier for the aircraft’s engines.
Germany Airbus has 20.800 people working in seven constructional sections and assembly lines. The A319 is manufactures in Hamburg.
United Kingdom. Airbus has 10.000 people working. There is also the place where the A319 wings are manufactures. The wings, the landing and the fuels’ systems are designed in Filton, close to Bristol of the north Wales.
Spain Airbus has 3.100 people working in three sections. There are also manufactured the back-ends of A319 aircrafts.
Switherland There are the headquarters of SR Technics, which services all Easyjet aircrafts.
