Diakopto is a charming town in the Achaia region that has developed into a popular holiday destination. Located 37 km from Kalavryta, it offers a unique combination of mountains and sea.
Around Diakopto¢s harbor, numerous fishing boats operate, offering fresh fish from the Corinthian Gulf. A characteristic sight is the small church of Agios Nikolaos situated right next to the harbor.
Diakopto is also the starting point of the famous rack railway that reaches Kalavryta. At the station, you can see the old steam engine of the railway. The train station serves as the town¢s center, where you will find cafés, grill houses, restaurants, and shops for daily needs. Most of the town¢s summer events take place in the central square. It¢s also worth visiting the Diakopto depot to see the new trains of the rack railway.
The town is renowned for its beautiful beaches. Visitors can choose from three popular beaches. The first stretches along the harbor, the second runs along the coastal road from the harbor to the river, and the third is the well-known Egkali beach, which begins at the end of the coastal road in the opposite direction of the second beach. Egkali is a lovely sandy beach with several shops and cafés where you can enjoy a coffee or a drink while taking in the scenery.
