Amarandos
 |
The village of Amarandos is located north of Konitsa, at a distance of 27 km.
It is built at an altitude of 960 meters in a lush area surrounded by towering mountain peaks. Amarandos is a small, picturesque village where the tiled-roof houses and stunning natural surroundings create a nostalgic atmosphere.
The central church of the village and the old school building, which now operates as a traditional guesthouse, leave a lasting impression.
The paved village square is also noteworthy, where you will find the ancient fir tree, a symbol of the village.
Amarandos consists of three settlements connected by cement-paved roads (formerly cobblestone paths). Each settlement features a stone fountain that historically provided water to the households.
The Amarandos thermal springs are located 5 km from the village, nestled in a beautiful forest near the Greek-Albanian border at an altitude of 1,260 meters. From the limestone cliffs, warm air emerges from the earth, and the therapeutic properties of the springs attract many visitors from June to September, when the baths are open.
